take it up with the magistrate on your first court date, maybe you can get them to drop it all together, but if not, you WILL be able to get it reduced to 5mph over and save a little on the fines- in Charlotte a 5mph over ticket is $130-$140- if the magistrate won't do it, you can always try the judge at 2nd date- if you don't have traffic violations within 3 years you can go for the PJC- but with a PJC, anybody in your household gets a ticket in 3 years, your points come back and bite you on the butt

I don't think so if you were going either speed you wear still speeding It sounds like the cop was trying to do you a favor the ticket is cheaper for 9mi over than it is for 12mi over the limit....he probably saved you 50-100 dollars

It should make a difference in the fine amount and possibly between speeding and reckless driving.

(FYI---A city cop cannot write a ticket on the interstate unless their population is 50,000 or more.(For most states)

no its legal. he may have been looking at you instead of thinking about what he was writing. if you hire a lawyer he might be able to get it thrown out but by yourself i dont think so.just pay the lawyer and let him do the work. read my story below.
