u can chat to anyone in the globe as long as they have the net and obviously a yahoo account :) i have friends in canada, south america and south africa, my austrailian friend has just moved to the uk

As long as the computer you are on, and the computer in the USA or Canada has Yahoo! Messenger installed, then yes, it is possible to talk.

As long as the person has a computer, a internet connection, and yahoo messenger they could talk to you no matter where they are. Even in Zanzabar. Hope this helps :)
