A career is something you hope you're doing for a long time. A job is hopefully temporary.

A career is usually something to go to college for, get a degree, and then pursue. Also, a career is usually something that you plan on retiring with. A job is where you don't plan to stay with until you retire. A career doesn't mean that you're planning to stay with that same company until you retire, but that you want to stick with that type of occupation.

Job: Something temporary, you dont really plan on doing this for the rest of your working life lol.

Career: Something you know you'll be doing long term, perhaps even retiring from.

Example: Tim works cashier at Walgreens, thats just a job.
Carrie wants to become a pharmacist, she might even goto college for it. Thats what she plans on doing with her life, where as "Tim" would only be doing it for a short period of time.

To my mind, a job is what you do for money.

A career is long-term and should reflect a particular ability or passion one has.

Sometimes a job and a career can be the same thing.
