I think it would be a shame for you to give up all of your favorite hobbies because of Carpal Tunnel; instead you should try to fix the problem and take your life back!

Have you seen a doctor? If you have and have only been prescribed pain medication, I would recommend seeing a chiropractor. As a chiropractic student, I'm obviously biased to suggest it, but chiropractic has great success in treating carpal tunnel syndrome. Chiropractic focuses on removing interference of the Central Nervous System (brain, spinal cord, and nerves) by correcting spinal misalignment (aka subluxation). When the vertebrae are misaligned, they can pinch the nerves running out between them and cause pain, numbness/tingling, or any type of general malfunction to that nerve's corresponding body part.

Haha, this might not have been the answer you were expecting, but I hope I helped a little. No matter what you decide to do, I hope you feel better!

If you cant control the symptoms with nightime and daytime splinting, you need a nerve study. Surgery is the only cure, but other treatments can suppress symptoms for short or long term. Check AAOS.ORG for patient info on CTS
