I am moving back to LA and would like to know if I still have to wear stockings or pantyhose to my office job.
If so, do all the people over there wear closed toed shoes?

If its a nice office and air conditioned I would wear stockings. I don't wear pantyhose at all but I always wear stockings or at least thigh highs.

But that is LA, not exactly the fashion capitol of the world, so I am not sure what is the norm, nor do I usually care. I always follow my own style, which is stockings with heels always. Anything else looks street corner chick, what is not my idea of office attire. I supervise 20 girls in an office environment and nothing surprises me anymore with these young girls. i am only 28, but it seems like there is a lot more than 10 years between me and the youngest. Some of these girls have no idea of office environment, they act more like factory workers on break. Just the fact that you raise the question of office attire makes me believe you are on your way to a successful adventure. Good Luck

When you're hired, make sure you know the dress code. At your interview, ask if it's acceptable to wear pantyhose, or if it's required. Also make sure beforehand that you are allowed to wear something that would require pantyhose or stockings, such as a skirt. If you are not allowed to wear anything but pants, pantyhose shouldn't be an issue, since you won't have to wear them. All in all, LA is a very up-to-date place, so in the warm months, wear open toed, and in winter wear supportive shoes, in case it gets icy.

If it is a nice office I would wear hose. I prefer stockings to pantyhose for a lot of reasons, but I think it is a sloppy look to dress in business clothes with heels and bare legs. But than you are in LA, the land of Gauche, not New York or Paris.

The too hot thing really kills me. Anyone who has worked in an office knows that they can actually be cold in the summer, because the AC is set for men in their jackets and ties, and most women freeze, and are forced to resort to sweaters. Sitting at a desk all day in the AC can be drafty, ann stockings and a sweater are sometimes way more comfortable than a sundress and bare legs.

Well first of all stop into the office before you actually start working and get a good look at what the ladies are wearing. Most companies would probably be some kind of hose and then might have a issue with open toed shoes.

It's perfectly fine to wear open-toed shoes, but if you do I would try spray-on pantyhose. Otherwise, I would suggest wearing panty hose, unless you know you're just going to be sitting around at a desk all day long.

In La, things are usually pretty laid back. On the east cost I would say yes, but in LA, maybe not. Go in dress pants the first day and look around and get the scoop. When in Rome do as the Romans....

I wear stockings because I am in sales, and I have to compete with the guys in their $500.00 suits and gucci shoes. I also like the look and feel os stockings, v.s.bare legs, and the AC in a lot of offices makes it chilly, because its set for the men in jackets and ties. But if you are in a laid back office, the men might be laid back too.

I probably would, if people go to work dressed nicely. Rather than see how the women dress, I would check out the men if you are competing for positions. Especially in sales, successful men are usually GQ types. If they are in suits, ties and dress shoes, I would certainly do the same. Forget what the women do, and forget the heat. You are in an A/C office and air conditioned car or bus, so unless you are walking door to door, the heat doesn't enter into it.

If it`s office, be trendy but not too much because they`ll talk about it. Wear something serious like high-heels, but always hide a pair of crocs under the desk in case of emergancies. Wear dark shades of blue and light shades of pink. Wear your hair in a bun or down. You don`t have to wear panty hose if your legs look okay. Put lotion on to make them look better if you need to. Hey, it worked for me!!!
