Touchdown - 6 points, with 1 point after for ball kicked through uprights, 2 points for rush or catch into endzone.
Field Goal - 3 points, independent of distance
Safety - 2 points, scored by either tackling an offensive player in his endzone, an offensive player stepping out of the endzone or fumbling the ball out of the enzone, or an offensive penalty in their own endzone.

It's fairly simple, for Pro football:
- A player crosses the other team's goal line while in possession of the ball, it's a Touchdown, and is worth 6 points. The offense or defense can score touchdowns.
There is then a PAT or Point-after-touchdown. This is usually scored by kicking the ball through the goal posts and is worth 1 point when done this way.
The other method is called a Two-point-conversion. In this case, the teams line line up just as they normally would or then might line up as if they were going to kick and fake it. In any case, if the ball is run by a player or passed to a player and the player crosses the goal line, it's worth 2 points.
A field goal is worth 3-points. Similar to a PAT but this happens only when a team can't score a touchdown, but is close enough to attempt this method of scoring. Like a PAT, the ball must be kicked through the upright arms of the goal posts.
Finally, there is a safety. This is scored by the defense. It is a 2-point score and happens when an offensive player (the team with the ball) is tackled in his own end zone before crossing his own goal line. This can also be called if an offensive player is called for holding while attempting to block a defensive player while the offense is in it's own end zone.
Safteys are rare, they happen only a 3 or 4 times a season, on average.

wen someone scores a touchdown it is 6 points. immediately after the touchdown teams have a choice of going for a 2 point play, or kicking a field goal for 1 point. During a game teams usually just kick the field goal.
Regular field goals are worth 3 points
there are also safeties, thos are when a defensive player sacks the quarterback in his endzone. 2 points

10 yards per point means the player is awarded a point for every 10 yards they gain. So if a player gains, say, 50 combined rushing/receiving yards in a game, he scores 5 points. The same applies to QBs, except they need to have 25 passing yards before they score a point.

You would be confused if you paid attention to our friend from India (Eshwar or something like that). Its called a touchdown not a goal. Pay attention only to those who know what they're talking about. The ones who answered before him.
