Nothing is really "decided," it just "happens." Like a couple people said, sperm carry both X and Y chromosomes, eggs on carry x chromosomes. If a Y sperm joins the X egg, it's a boy, if an X chormosome joins the X egg, it makes a girl. If two or more get there at the same time, that makes twins (because the woman's X chromosome can split).

Yes each sperm when released has a X or Y like the others are saying. Depends on which one makes it to the egg to determine the gender. Thats why they say the male sperm are faster but the female sperm are slower but live longer.

let me think of a good way to put this............the male doesn't the decide the sex he just has a better input on what the sex of the baby will be. for example........ the male chromosomes are x & y.......the female chromosomes are x & x. if you make a punnet square you will see that there is a 50% chance that the baby will be female. but if the male has more y chromosomes than x's the will probably be male. see the woman can only produce females but the male can produce males and females. the baby will have a bigger chance of being male. get it? probably not. im not that good at explaining things.

well is up to the man just because is the mans sperm that has a Y and X chromosomes. we women only have one. so if it was up to us we only be having females. But is not like the guy said OK lets go for a boy. its all mix up, which ever sperm Y or X is stronger and makes it into the egg first that's what your going to have.

Male sperm either has a y chromosome, or an x chromosome. You can't decide which kind of sperm fertilizes the egg though

It's genetics. The x and the y chromosomes. The male sperm carries that part of the genetic makeup of the child.

The sperm has chromozomes and enzymes which trigger a surge of testosterone in the babies early developement. This causes him to become a man. It is also the reason why men have nipples. Because all babies start out a-sexual.

Women's chromosome is XX, men's is XY. When a baby is made, the mother gives the baby the X. If it is a girl, then the man gave the baby a X too. If it is a boy, the man gave the baby a Y.
