Who do you think R.A.B. is in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince?

Question

I think it's Regulus Black and his middle name was something like Augustus, but then I thought it might be Dumbledore because his name is Albus Dumbledore and he might have a nickname that begins with an R. (Crazy theory)

Well, not a nickname that begins with an R, but he might have had another name that begins with the letter R.

You know, the weird thing though, is that the note said I will be dead long before you read this. Had Regulus Black suspected he was going to die? It could be Dumbledore. But he wasn't dead long. However, he did predict his death.

I think that R.A.B. is Sirius' brother, Regulus Black. We know that he was a Death Eater, and that he was later killed because he wanted out. I believe that he stole the real locket Horcrux, tried to destroy it, but it ended up at his childhood home at Number 12, Grimmauld Place. In Order of the Phoenix (American Edition) on page 116, "a heavy locket that nobody could open" is mentioned. I think that this is the real Horcrux, and now that Harry owns Grimmauld Place, he, Hermione, and Ron will go there and discover it. Here is what J.K. Rowling had to say about R.A.B. in an interview with Melissa Anelli and Emerson Spartz of The Leaky Cauldron and Mugglenet fansites:

MA: R.A.B.

JKR: Ohhh, good.

[All laugh.]

JKR: No, I'm glad! Yes?

MA: Can we figure out who he is, from what we know so far?

[Note: JKR has adopted slightly evil look here]

JKR: Do you have a theory?

MA: We've come up with Regulus Black.

JKR: Have you now?

MA: Uh-oh.

[Laughter.]

JKR: Well, I think that would be, um, a fine guess.

MA: And perhaps, being Sirius’s brother, he had another mirror –

JKR: [drums fingers on soda can]

MA: Does he have the other mirror, or Sirius’s mirror —

JKR: I have no comment at all on that mirror. That mirror is not on the table. [Laughter from all; Jo's is maniacal.]

Yes Yes we all know who it was. R.A.B. is Regulus Black. The middle initial may possibly stand for "Alphard," his uncle. Or it may be Arcturus, another relative. Yes, this would mean that Regulus stole Lord Voldemort's Horcrux. If you re-read chapter 6, pg. 115 at the bottom of the page in OotP, you will see that when they were cleaning, they found "a heavy locket none of them could open." Sirius said he ( Regulus ) was a Death Eater. We also know that Death Eaters call Lord Voldemort "The Dark Lord" and that was what was written in the locket.

It is quite obvious and I think J.K. Rowling wanted it to be that way because it would just be strange to introduce completely new things in Book 7.

The only possibility I can think of is Regulus Black. I can't wait for Book 7 to come out...

It's probably Sirus's brother because, if you go back to the 5th book when they're cleaning out Sirus's house they found "A big heavy locket no one could open" Regulus probably hid it there before he got axed by Voldemort
