soil and water conditions will make a difference. In my experience, Bradford pears do grow fast-- and have soft wood that breaks limbs with a load of ice-- ah yes, Midwest winters!!. Willow is dicidious (loses leaves in the fall)-- so then you have no screen half of the year. There are fairly fast growing evergreens-- check with a local nursery to see what's good for your yard.
