You always have the ultimate choice. You must take control of your own health care because no one is going to care about it as much as you.
You're going to be paying your doctor big bucks, so ask their opinion. Don't be afraid to ask. And don't be brow beaten into a decision. My wife was brow-beaten into going natural after her first c-section and it was a tough experience for her. After our third, we installed a zipper in her abdomen for easy access :)
Some of your choices may result in higher costs. You insurance company doesn't seem to be obligated to do anything these days. Frankly, I think if they had their druthers, we'd all die, but keep paying our premiums.

If this is your first pregnancy, doctors cannot perform a c-section unless there is to be a medical reason which could put the baby in danger if giving birth vaginally. Vaginally is what is considered the natural way, and that is what doctors will do first. Now, if you have previously given birth by c-section, as of last year, the law states that the woman has the choice to decide in which manner she wants to deliver her second child and the doctor must do same, despite the fact that there is no medical reason. I had first baby c-section because she has breech, second was vaginal, and now I am pregnant with my third and I was confirmed the information that I just told you... I choose how I want to have my baby, the only way that they will give me a c-section if I decided vaginally, would be if there is something wrong..

Yes, you are entitled to a natural delivery unless it would be a danger to you and/or your baby to deliver naturally. You can have your birth at home with a midwife if you so choose. Some insurance plans will pay for that as well. If you choose to deliver in a hospital, you just need to find the right doctor for you. Some are very open about birthing positions, episiotomies, etc... There are some hospitals who have "birthing centers" and may have a water tub for a water delivery or showers and private rooms. Insurance may or may not pay for a private room and usually pays for a two day stay in the hospital.

Interesting question. The mother does not get to choose a C-section. You can choose a natural birth (which is a vaginal birth with no drugs). Or you can choose a vaginal birth with drugs. But the C-section only comes into play if you have already had a C-section with a previous birth or because the doctor believes your body can't birth the baby vaginally.
If I remember correctly, one in four births is going to be a C-section.
Good Luck

Depends on the Insurance Company. Most should pay either way and you can tell the Doctor which your prefer. BUT, as we know, in America this not always true with Dictator Control, they could TELL you what you WILL do, sad, but, that how it works. Hopefully your Doctor is an American Patriot and will work with you on this. Another Choice you may have is Water Birth, not a new concept, except in America where we tend to be a little behind in knowledge, thanks again to ..... well no need to say, I already stated this.

Some, more liberal, doctors will let you choose a c-section. They will schedule the birth for you like a regular doctor's appt. I'm a big fan of the natural way. Nothing better than feeling a little contraction and wondering, "is this it?" There are very few real surprises in life.

you really don't have a choice in terms of whether or not you can have a C-Section or a Natural Birth. Normally C-Sections are only mentioned when they are needed and when the child is in a situation where it cannot be delivered vaginally. I also don't believe that any insurane company would cover something was not necessary.

generally natural is the preferred option....i think the doctors have more of a role in deciding than insurance company...women have a decision in who delivers baby...doctor or midwife; at home or hospital...but C section is a last resort..there are a lot of complications that can result from surgery....so if the baby can be delivered naturally that is what is tried first.

C-sections are for women who cannot have a child naturally or in cases of emergency. You can choose to have a C-section done if you can find a doctor that will do it (most wouldn't) but it's unlikely that insurance would pay for it if it wasn't a medical necessity.

It's the Dr's choice. I have heard however Dr's doing a C-section at the mother's request (which I think is wrong). A C-section should only be done in case of an emergency.
