Darkness has no King it acknowledges. God is ruler over all. Darkness is rebellion to His rule. I guess Satan is said to be prince because he is still under God's rule, even though he is in rebellion to it. That he refuses to recognize the Sovereignty of God doesn't change that God is Sovereign.

God is the king. And actually, in the old testement, Jewish writings and some of the dead sea scrolls Lucifer never really stopped working for God. The whole rebellion thing is entirely new testement.
The old testement satan is more of a temptor who tests peoples faith so that God can be sure they are truly faithful and not just going through the motions. Each archangel has a role to play and that just happened to be Lucifer's.
Just look at the story of Job. God and Satan are basically sitting down at tea one day, knocking a few back, playing poker, whatever deitys do in their free time and God says "hey look at that guy, he really loves me a lot". Satan says something like "I bet you five bucks I can make him turn from you." God shakes his hand and says "You're on, just don't kill him." So Satan goes and kills the mans family, takes everything he has, wriddles him with diseases. He stayed faithful and God said "Ha! I told you so! give me my five bucks." And they go knock down a few more beers together.

Reminds me of the time I had sex with that ugly chick in college on a dare. Except I gave her a good time while God and Satan killed and maimed innocent people for their own ammusement. I think I'm more worthy of worship than that guy.

There is no "King of Darkness." Satan can only be "prince" -- he can be no higher -- because God is the only One who has the honor of the title "King." And since no one can ever be above God, the only titles that can be had are those lower than that of a king. I hope this makes sense...

God bless you and keep you well...

The King reigns over the Prince. It is the Queen who you should be asking about, as she gave birth to the Prince & knows all!

Prince is a word that refers to a principle.

Technically, satan is the principle of darkness.

The word king is related to a ruler, and we all know that darkness has no rules.

by the way how much reading do you do or do you just make these up as you go?

There is no "king of darkness" . there is only one true king, "The King of Kings" and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. God calls Satan the "Prince of Darkness" because our Lord Jesus Christ is King of everything, now and forever!!
