My windows freeze when in a chatroom and was advised to download YM7.5 rather than the 7.0 i am using but it takes about only 3 mins. to download and when i run it this appears...an I/O error occurred while installing a file which is normally caused by bad installation media or a corrupt installation file.....HELPPP!!!!Please tell me what to do as soon as possible... please!!!

Try uninstalling and reinstalling. When you install, remember to have nothing else open, no other files etc, just the install.

delete yahoo messenger from your computer and install trillian basic. It's free and doesn't crash your system with a bunch of useless toys that don't work.
Trillian can run Yahoo, AIM, MSN and ICQ protocols in multi-session (you can have several identities of each open and running simultaneously).
It rocks.

Uninstall YM and reinstall. It should work out.
