Why is there so much news coverage of the middle east, and so much of the world is ignored?

Canada, the US and much of Europe seems consumed by news of the Middle East, yet we scarcely ever hear from SouthEast Asia, South America, India etc.

I agree with you. It's because news channels (at least most of them) like to report controversial news. It brings publicity and what not...

It's the heist of the century, and the world is just curious how many people the US will kill and destroy to steal it and what's the next lame excuse they will come up with to make it seem oh so right.
