DMC featuring Sarah McLachlan: Just Like Me

As I walk through the corridors of Cooley High
I gotta be thankful that I’m still alive
I have a lot of friends like who the hell am I
What is the truth and what is a lie
But I think about my life and everything is ok
I gotta pave a way to a brighter day
Cuz it’s really plain and simple when it came to me
There’s a lot of people just like me

(Sarah) like me

There’s a whole lot just like me

(Sarah) like me

Chorus (Sarah):
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man 'n the moon.
(DMC) woo
When you comin' home
I don't know when
We'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then

1964 - Uh
Here we go
A - Yo
A child was born it was a beautiful day
It was 1964 the 31st of May
A girl gave birth to a baby boy
He is not a burden he’s a Bundle of joy

(With Sarah) She was just a young girl in her youth
And her parents tried real hard to hide the truth
Is there a chance for the baby to live
That is a chance that you gotta give
That is a chance that you gotta give

Chorus (Sarah):
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man 'n the moon
When you comin' home
I don't know when
We'll get together then
(DMC) to say hi
You know we'll have a good time then

1 – 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7
It was 9 long months inside of the womb
Another long month in a hospital room
Facing doom in a tomb
Cuz the kid is alone
But somebody came along and they took the kid home

He came into the world like 3 on 2
But he never ever knew how he came through
Do the best you can do if this happens to you
And understand all the words that I’m rapping to you

(Sarah) A ha

Understand all the words that I’m rapping to you

(Sarah) A ha

Chorus (Sarah):
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
(DMC) woo
Little boy blue and the man 'n the moon.
(DMC) woo
when you comin' home
I don't know when
we'll get together then
you know we'll have a good time then

Yo…
A mother and a father is all that he knows
They give him lots of love and you know that it shows
He’s livin’ really well
he has all that he needs
He came into the world and he’s gonna to succeed

Then here’s a lesson to live a good life
If nothin is wrong than somethin is right
They say that life is a mystery
And I just want to know my history
Understand that life is good to me
That’s the way it is so...
(Sarah) Let it be

My life is complete everything is alright
Life is good to me
I’m in paradise
Understand what I’m rappin
No pain or sorrow
I jus want you to know
Yo Yo
I jus want you to know
Yo yo

Chorus (Sarah): (6x)
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
When you comin' home
I don't know when
We’ll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then

It's "Cats in the Cradle" by Harry Chapin

My child arrived just the other day,
He came to the world in the usual way.
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay.
He learned to walk while I was away.
And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew,
He'd say, "I'm gonna be like you, dad.
You know I'm gonna be like you."

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when,
But we'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."

My son turned ten just the other day.
He said, "Thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play.
Can you teach me to throw?" I said, "Not today,
I got a lot to do." He said, "That's ok."
And he walked away, but his smile never dimmmed,
Said, "I'm gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I'm gonna be like him."

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when,
But we'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."

Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
"Son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for a while?"
He shook his head, and he said with a smile,
"What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please?"

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when,
But we'll get together then, dad.
You know we'll have a good time then."

I've long since retired and my son's moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
I said, "I'd like to see you if you don't mind."
He said, "I'd love to, dad, if I could find the time.
You see, my new job's a hassle, and the kid's got the flu,
But it's sure nice talking to you, dad.
It's been sure nice talking to you."
And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me,
He'd grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when,
But we'll get together then, dad.
You know we'll have a good time then."

well what you can do is listen to the radio and see if you hear it again and then you may be able to hear who sings it after the song comes out.
