The price of an antibiotic in one drugstore is $12.50 altho the price of the same antibiotic in another drugstore is $8.75. Write the ration of the prices as a ration of whole numbers

Write them as a ratio of integers (cents) first:
1250 / 875

Remove a common factor of 5 from top and bottom:
250 / 175

Repeat for another 5:
50 / 35

Oops, we can do it again:
10 / 7

(Note: this is equivalent to 1.428571... in decimal, so the previous answer was right about this, but the problem asked to do it as a ratio of whole numbers.)

So the ratio of the prices is 10 / 7.

Divide 12.50 by 8.75 to arrive at the answer. This cannot be done using only whole numbers, but it would be roughly 1.43 to 1.
