I'm looking for some techniques on pitching in a slowpitch softball league. Any tips?

It will be underhand pitching with 6ft ~ 12ft range. I'm looking for ways to make it hard for batters to make solid contact.

If its unlimited, obvisouly throw it as high as you can. If its 6-12 ft, find a good height that you can constantly hit while throw strikes, thats tougher as a pitchers, its like putting it on a tee for the hitter. Technique wise, i pitch with a backspin on my pitch. Hold it with all 5 fingers, have your hand face the batter, the ball toeards second, flick your wrist dfor the backspin, thats one way to do it. You could also hold it in your palm, ball facing the batter, and throw it that way, with that you can spin the ball for a bit of a curve. Those are some ways i do it. Good Luck!!

A winning team in a slow pitch softball league requires a good defense. As a pitcher you might be able to prevent the hitters from always getting good swings, but you will have to rely on your defense to make plays. Watch batters take batting practice, and observe where they like to hit. Also, note how they stand in the batters box. A hitter that likes to drive the ball to right field will prefer pitches on the outside part of the plate, and will stand in a "closed" stance. A pull hitter will prefer middle-inside pitches, and will normally stand straight-open.

The goal is to mix up the heights, and most importantly the depths, of the pitches. You do not want the batter to know exactly what to expect at the plate. When you are ahead of a hitter try pushing the extremes. Go for the upper or lower limits, and stay on the corners.

With all that being said, make sure you are able to throw strikes when you need to. Nothing is more frustrating to a fielder than watching a pitcher walk hitters.

Just don't throw too many flat pitches, which are around the 6ft limit. Also don't leave pitches short. You have to adjust for each hitter, some people can't handle outside pitches, some can't handle them deep. Just have to go out and experiment to see what you can do best.
