I work in a sandwich shop, so I can kind of explain this.

My opinion of lite, a little, very little mayo ect is less than a teaspoon. I've had people call and say it is too much or not enough or I didn't get mayo wtf!!!?

My opinion of heavy mayo is about 2 table spoons or more on both sides of the bread, obvious that mayo is there. Again people will call and complain that they didn't get enough or there is too much. Everyone's a little different.

It's easy when a customer is watching. (We assemble our sandwiches in front of the customers like subway). I will start with very little and keep showing them till it is right. Why? So people don't call back with:

"Where is my mayo?!"
"There's too much mayo. I just wanted a little heavy."
"This is too much mayo. I can still taste it."
"I asked for mayo, but I got some white stuff. What is it!?"

And many more. Believe me, sandwich employees have no idea what a little or extra is to you, we just can't be psychic. :p

I was a subway employee for 3 years. And I could not comprend 'a little' or 'extra' until the day I quit. I think they put a chip in your brain, and only the dumb people don't get hypnotized.

I find them to not understand what you mean by a little. I always get extra when I ask for it and if I say little, it just the usual amount.

Actually yes.
often, when I order light jalapenos, and heavy on the pickles, i end up with about 40 jalapenos and about 4 pickles.
Not all of them do that, but it does happen a lot, lol.

A lot of places have the same problem. I wonder why they have that on the computer menu, if they're not going to put a "little mayo" on it anyway.

Well your "little" and "extra" may not mean the same as their "little" or "extra" that's why you need to tell them, be specific. I wan't TWO scoops of tuna on my foot long sub, not four, thanks. I don't want ham on my Subway club....about a pinch of sweet peppers, thanks. Be clear.

You mean they're suppose to listen to you?? What a novel concept! I find that true for just about any customer service field anymore.
