Herpes around the mouth, yes. It usually appears as cold sores though. It's nothing really serious, but it can be contagious even if there's no signs of it.

sharing a smoking pipe with someone who has herpes may not be advisable cos if he's got a cut you may catch it ,it's contagious just like any other transmitted diseases
