There are quite a few things that can effect getting pregnant. First let me say that it took us 8 years to have a live birth. We had 2 miscarriages and a still birth in between.

We were told after my last miscarriage that I wasn't ovulating and we would need to have IVF to get pregnant. We decided to wait and look into adoption too. Well, six months later, I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. Then when she was 6 months old, I found out I was pregnant again, with my baby now- girl. So it's never a sure thing, no matter what you do.

If you are trying, then the best thing to do is to chart your cycle. Mark on the calendar the first day of your period, then count to days 13-17. Have sex those days. Those are usually the most fertile days for women.

You can also try the basil temp method. Buy a basil thermometer- different then a regular thermometer. Take your temp every morning when you wake up and are still in bed. Write down your temp every day. Towards the middle of your cycle, your temp will start to go up. It will spike and when it does, have sex for a few days, starting on the day it spikes.

You can also buy a home ovulation test. It will help you to know when you ovulate. There are different kinds, so find one that would work best for you.

If all else fails, call your doctor. It's best to get a check up before you start trying anyway. Just to make sure everything is fine and there are no concerns that need to be taken care of before you get pregnant.

Start taking prenatal vitamins now. Over the counter ones are fine. You don't a prescription for them. This will boost your folic acid and some other nutrients that are important in pregnancy.

Start an exercise routine before you get pregnant. That way, you already have one established when you get pregnant. It's much easier to stay in shape when you are pregnant if you have been doing it all along.

Start eating right and stop behaviors that could harm your baby like drinking, smoking, drugs, or any other behaviors or lifestyles that wouldn't work for pregnancy. You can start on the pregnancy diet right now, just drop the amount of calories by about 200/day. You can find this diet in "what to expect when your expecting". It's the best diet for anyone to be on.

I hope this helps!! Good luck!!!

The first baby was conceived the night I gave my virginity to my guy. The second baby was about 12 months later. The third was 20 months after that. But timing differs for each person. If you are that worried about it, go get yourself checked out and his sperm count. It'll either upset you or make you feel better, but at least you'll know.

We only tried once but got pregnant when we least expected it!
Try calculating out your ovulation days! Then have sex the day before you ovulate and the day of! Thats how we got pregnant!
Some take longer, depends on how fertile you are!

It took a few years. Sometimes you just try to hard. Our doctor told us to only have sex like every 3 to 5 days and voila' we had our daughter.
