I have a bunch of old floppies that are all empty/erased but I hate to put them straight into a landfill. Can't find any recycling programs on a quick internet search. Any suggestions -- I have no access to a shredder but maybe some computer stores have them to use for a small fee? Any ideas/suggestions?

Take the disk and open it up. There is a way to open them up from the little silver circle. Theres a brown plastic thing inside that keeps all your data. Just get rid of that and you will be fine. You can cut it up or burn it. I dont think there is a special way of recycling them unless you just want to format the disk (which will erase all data anyway) and then give it to someone who might want them. A lot of schools have a need for them so you might want to give them to a school near you.
