I had my son at 28 weeks. He weighed 2lbs. 15 oz. and later got down to 2lbs. 5oz. Which is big for his age...but, he was in the hospital about a week shy of 2 months. He had his ups and downs but with medical technology now his chances of survival were actually pretty good. We did a lot of praying and we were by his side as much as possible even though he was in a hospital 35 min. away. We saw him every day sometimes twice a day. In the end, it's Gods will what will happen and thank Him for the health and survival of my son. He will be two in July and has not a thing wrong with him. He's perfect! Don't go through pregnancy wondering if you'll deliver early...don't stress yourself out. There's nothing you can do if it does happen but stay positive, pray and hope for the best. The best of luck to you during your pregnancy.

The statistics on a 27 weeker aren't good.. less then 50%. It is past the age of viability, which means it could survive, but it would be in bad shape. On a ventilator for a long time, probably have problems with eye sight, hearing, and brain bleeds. There is also a possibility of brain damage from being outside the womb before development was finished.
My baby was a premie- 36 weeker- so not as early as a 27 weeker, but I went into preterm at 27 weeks and it took 2 days to stop the contractions, and then I was on bedrest and medication for the remainder of my pregnancy. It wasn't fun, but at least my baby got a chance to be born a little older. She weighed 3 lbs, 3 ounces, 15 inches long. She was on a ventilator for a day and then was taken off and was fine. She was in the NICU for almost a month before we brought her home.
It's hard to have a premie. I've seen babies born that early that it's always scary and heartbreaking. Those babies have a rough time and sometimes don't make it.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Worrying won't do anything but upset you. If you haven't had any problems in your pregnancy, chances are that everything will be fine, and you will go into labor at term. The chances are very slim that you would go into labor now anyway.
If you are really worried about it, talk to your doctor. They can help reassure you that everything is fine.

Your baby may survive with a lot of intervention, but will most likely suffer long-term consequences. Try to relax and keep well-hydrated. Preterm labor is often brought on by dehydration or an infection. (So wash those hands & fruits & veggies!)

At 24 weeks the baby has a 50-50 chance of survival in most cases. This does not guarantee anything...but technology has gotten better at helping premature infants. I hope you are able to go full term though, best of luck.

don't stress your self out. God has the ultimate answer to this how ever your child would be a low birth weight. Amoungst a few other issues. But prayer is key. I have a friend who gave birth at 20 weeks and now the baby is so health no one knows he is a preemie

There's a small chance it would live. It hasn't developed enough at all. There's a chance but I think it would be a small chance.
