It is a very old tradition in India and has been outlawed for 50 years plus. It is no longer a common occurance. But sometimes few bad people get together and try it out. Most of the times it is caught and the girl is saved but other times it is considered a murder and they are punished.

yeah it is true in past this tradition was in Indian society.but now any one whosoever do this act is liable to be punished as per the Indian law.
