And when will this brown discharge go away?

Brown discharge is just old blood from your uterus. The red blood means its flowing directly from the uterus down and is "fresh". Your brown blood is just light spotting that is taking a while to come down.

Since you've been menstruating for many years, my guess is your hormones aren't quite in balance which is keeping you from having a full-on period. I would probably go get a blood test to see where my levels of progesterone and estrogen are. Periods are strange and sometimes they just "right themselves" the next month.

Definitely see your doctor. Missing periods and/or having shortened ones (which this brown discharge sounds like) may be a sign that you have some medical condition or your body is under a lot of stress. For example many women athletes who train hard and have very low body fat tend to have irregular periods as well. Then they have to adjust for it with adequate nutrition and monitor their health for other related issues (like low iron in blood, blood pressure, etc.)
Bottom line: see a doctor, rule out any potential serious problems. If its a matter of nutrition, you can be set back on track before other problems kick in. Good luck!

Usually that brown discharge is......I don't know how to explain this but it's like leftover cycle (period).....It usually stop in a day or two. If not, see your doctor they will be better able to explain. The reason why I am not alarm because it has always been like this for me......it's like leftover.

If the discharge is not foull smelling, pain free and scanty, it probably need not mean much. If not, I would go visit my doctor.
Best of luck to you. .get well soon
