Dear Rita

In answer to your question, the answer is that the clocks go backwards and forwards between summer and winter was brought in for ` The Farmer's ' and this system of time keeping will always remain in operation whilst ever we have farmer's.

The clocks going forwards and backwards as nothing whatsoever to do with the war.

I therefore trust that this answer's your question.

It's called Daylight Saving and it's intended to save electricity since it stays lighter an hour longer in the evening and is already light when most people get up.

For a while during the war we had Double Daylight Saving - two hours longer in the evening!

ROFLMAO!...You are funny!...But seriously...If I had not have learned about Day Light Savings in school I would have thought the same thing when I met my fiancee...He is in the war and gone all the time and stuff and it is so hard to live 9 hours apart and meet each other at the same time online or even on the phone when you can talk...I hate it...But at least it will come to an end soon...Either he and our other troops will come home soon or there will be a decent elected president who will say F the war and bring them all home to us safe...Well...Gotts to go...I have to plan for our wedding soon...YAYYY!!!...

Se_roddy has it right. Daylight savings time was enforced many years ago for the farmers to have extra hours of daylight to work in their fields. It's somewhat pointless now considering most of America's farmland (at least here in Ohio) is being overrun by superstores and housing developments. America's farms are slowly dying, sadly.
