I had the same situation and the places I found were great. Super 8 Motels is a chain that will try and meet your needs by offering extra cots for your family. If you travel in the summer, some universities will allow you to rent large dorm rooms. A good site to visit is : www.ovayonda.com/biz_index/motels.asp
There are many motels that are family-friendly. I applaud your efforts and hope you have some great trips.

most holtel suites have a max of 5 people in but check with the hotels. u may have to get 2 rooms due to fire safety codes.

Try camping, its affordable, about $15-20 a night, cheaper dining and kids love it, not to mention its great way for famlies to do things together.

Or someone has to sleep on the floor which I don't recommend!
