There is no gay "gene." It just happens. But it's still ok, no matter what. It's entirely by chance pretty much, even though I see on other people's questions that it's eaither a birth thing or nurture, and it's neither. Ask a gay person, I know a couple, and they all say that it just kinda happened. They felt more comfortable with the same sex for sexual-type desires. It's not a chemical imbalance (even though a couple scientists have proposed that, the idea went no where) and it's not something that the parents imposed on the child or anything like that. It's just nature.

There is no ‘gay’ gene if there was one it couldn’t possibly survive in nature as it would tend to self eliminate out of the gene pool.
We all start as females, the Y chromosome determines the sex of the males. If a zygote is to become a male the Y chromosome in that zygote makes the zygote send a signal to the gestating mother during the first week of pregnancy. For the next two weeks the mother’s brain produces testosterone that forms the basic connections of the male brain (remember we all start as females), by the forth week the embryo is now producing it’s own testosterone and this hormone will finalize forming the body of the fetus into a male baby.
However, if the mother fails to produce the needed amount of testosterone during the crucial second and third weeks of pregnancy the brain of the zygote remains wired as that of a female, later on the testes of this embryo will turn it into a male but the brain will continue developing as that of a female. So, in effect you have a female brain inside a male body. Females are attracted to males and so you have a man with homosexual tendencies. This however does not a gay man makes, because of the nurture aspect of society, he can choose not to act in that manner and remain a heterosexual man.
The exact opposite happens with lesbians, the mother produces too much testosterone when it is not supposed to and the brain get wired as that of a male, have a male brain inside a female body that ends up becoming a lesbian woman.

It could be environmental or genetic. But, it does seem to run in families, so you can take your pick. I think as long as people are not alone and have someone to love it's fine. I just don't think anyone, gay or straight, should be so private in public.
