Too many to list. My big peeve is when a business posts an incorrectly spelled word or glaringly grammatically incorrect word and then DON'T CORRECT IT! Mistakes can be made but if you are running a business you need to be extra careful.

OK- I thought of one. My students (inner city) do not know the difference in the words "and" and "in". ex.: "My mom in I went to the store." No matter how many times they are corrected they don't get it. And I teach 6th grade!

- Nauseous (as in "I am nauseous")
- Weather, Whether
- Who, Whom
- Indian vs Native American
- "Warsh" - Why do they still use this?
- Ain't
- To, Too
- Any chat jargon used when not in chat
- Foliage
- Any Yiddish words used incorrectly (It's SCHmuck Ma, not SMuck!)
- Dethaw? So you're going to freeze it again?

And yes, I am way too uptight :-P

My husband always says 'death' when he means 'deaf', and 'sover' for 'sober'. He has an auditory processing problem, even though he knows how these words are spelled, he hears them incorrectly.

The top three groups:

your, you're, yore (yes, that is a word)
to, too, two
affect, effect

It doesn't bother me so much that people don't always know which word to use where, as that they don't care.

Hot water heater - It's a water heater. If the water's already hot, why would you heat it?
Irregardless - There's no such word. Most people who use it are trying to sound sophisticated.

I tend to be unhappy with people who do not know the difference between can, will, and shall.

Interchanging them only confuses your meaning.
