I am about to start driving and I have a few choices for my first vehicle. 1) 2006 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 2) 2006 Volvo S40 T5 AWD, or I could wait until mid-2007 and get a 2008 Land Rover Freelander (which will be named the LR2). Which vehicle has the best quality and value?(basically 'Bang for the Buck'

I would suggest you wait for the freelander but it will be more expensive than present version. Volvo looks like a better bet as they are quite reliable& have a good safety record. Jaguar is quite dated & hardly revolutionary.

For some reason people love to rag on Jaguar like its the worst vehicle ever built. But usually these are people who've never owned one. Don't get me wrong Jaguar has had its share of problems. But no worse than any other manufacturer. Sure the Volvo is a great car. Yes its safe. But does it have the style and mystique that a Jaguar has? Does it have the old world charm? Nothing makes a statement like pulling up in a Jaguar...the leaping cat hood ornament guiding your approach. The Land Rover is a fine car as well, just in another category. Compared to the Jaguar the Rover is what a Jaguar would be like if Jaguar built an SUV. But they don't build an SUV so there is no comparison. If you want to know more about the value and quality of the Jaguar go to http://www.jag-lovers.org/ and ask some of the people there what they think...they actually are owners not a bunch of yahoo wannabes and haters. Good luck and enjoy that Jag!

I have noticed 2 things,

1. This is a fairly high price range.
2. You are in for a Ford

While there are better choices, these are the ones you gave me sooooo...

Well, these aren't in the same class. The Volvo is cheap, the Jag isn't, and the LR3 (maybe LR2 in your country) is an SUV.

The Land Rover is very nice, capable off road

But it has bad MPG and acceleration

Overall, the Jag is the best

Geez, all three of these are no reliability queens, that's for sure.

I'd guess for overall value I'd pick the Volvo, because the resale value on the Rover and the Jaguar will be pretty bad. At least you can get rid of the Volvo if it turns out to be a bad one.

My Scion tC gets approximately 36mpg, so I have no concept the place Yen have been given her numbers from. The tC would not 'pretend' to be something. it is a less expensive activities compact motor vehicle with loads of production facility and aftermarket customization. Scion merchandising would not portray the tC as something different than what i've got suggested. The commercials are not plagued with exaggerated engine sounds, featuring the tC tearing up tracks, or mountain roads. The Scion tC is a super fee motor vehicle with good gas mileage, first rate styling, Toyota reliability, and robust resale fee. My purely gripe could be the cheap *** plastic disguise for the panoramic roof, and rear head room is somewhat cramped even for a hatchback.

How the hell do u end up with these choices for a first car?!! mine are Chevy S-10 or other Chevy or dodge truck!!! (never ever ford). man u totally suck. Well anyway i would say absoluely not the jag...totaly suck. um i dont like Volvos because they seem like a Sh*ty family sedan, so i would go with the rover. Personally i would get a classic camaro or vette' or if u want cars like these find a BMW or Audi.

Spoiled rotten! Why buy an expensive 1st car? You will only wreck it in the 1st year of driving. Ask again in 5 years when you have the experience. What are you now? 16? 17 tops?
