80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping others "kinds of things".

Our questions try to fins the meanings of life when they themselves are but a tiny part of. We cannot possibly grasp full meanings of a story by learning only a few words. We can try, as we do, but I do not think meanings of life come to us through questions. All questions are limiting, and they can mislead us along the wrong paths of inquiry. However, questions do keep us curious about life and sharp in its affairs. We therefore must try and search for ever so more better ways to inquire about life.

According to my understanding, life is a vigourous, passionate and constant effort for a purpose, for a love, whatever it may be, it is entirely up to you, and then it is a humble and whole hearted acceptance of the fruit of our efforts and our expectations so far. We realise that it is not all, and it will never be. And doing this is like a gradual spreading out of a light of a candle. A candle that when burns gives out light, and with this light it see, and enables others to see.

You'll never know until you're on your death bed, and perhaps not even then. Although there may be a universal meaning, say for instance propagation of the species, or that we're the universe trying to figure itself out, most people should and do have a very personal meaning. A parent for instance, may have lived for their family, or in my case I'd imagine I'd say I lived to be with my girlfriend, although that's not to say you wouldn't have a meaning now. So, to finish off I'll say this; your meaning may be obvious, but if it's not, go out there and find it, and don't forget to have fun while you're looking.

You wake up next your gorgeous wife, having been woken up by your 1 and a half year old daughter who is pointing at the sky in her sleep and saying "Apple". It's the height of summer but there's a nice breeze blowing through the window, then you roll over again with a smile on your face, into dreams about a threesome with the neighbour's wife and their nanny.

That's the meaning of life.

Why are humans so intelligent -but yet don't our brains? We think the world revolves around us! It doesn't! We evolved-now are brains are so powerful-it's doing our heads in, thinking about questions like this! There is no meaning...we exist, we are part of nature! We are disgusting and beautiful all at the same time. Beauty and kindness is heaven on earth though....

There is no one meaning to life. Each individual has got to find their own meaning and philosophy.

What is one mans food could be another mans poison.

In order to be happy in this life one must have faith, hope and love.
The greatest of these is LOVE.

I'm not so sure that there is a 'meaning'. It is human nature to attach significance to everything. Perhaps life is just life.
