As a team, the NBA champions are the best team in the world. But I do think it is egotistical for Americans to call them world champions. Go Dallas.

I feel pretty confident about that. Because the NBA has the best players in the world. In the olympics Germany relies on Dirk Nowitzki. Argentina has a solid offense, but it also has grown towards Manu Ginobli. So when you say the NBA champions are world champions, you are correct.

Maverick put it greatly. I think the Pistons would have done better in the 2004 Olympics then the US team did. It is all about coaching and chemistry together in a matchup like that and when you have 12 diva superstars on one team with only 1 ball and 240 minutes to play (5*48), there cant be any chemistry. Also depends on international rules (3 pt line, trapizoid free throw area, etc.) or US/NBA rules.

It disturbs me but on the other hand I believe that NBA champion can beat any team in the world, if challenged. This is a fact.

They can say that when they win the Olympic games. It makes more sense to call a team a world champion if they've challenged teams across the world and won.

may not apply anymore...but I havent seen any team challenge it....but i sure would enjoy seeing some team from across the world step up to the plate and say they are better and dare the NBA to prove it...Wow that would be great....a challenge from somewhere acraoos the globe put up or shut up hahah that would be so great I would pay to see that...although I would put my money on the NBA...and the challenging team would have to be a team that was in a current league somewhere not the national team....because that would be an allstar team.

It's so biased. THE USA TEAM lost and embarrased themselves in the international competition.
