The Norris Trophy is awarded each year to the top defenseman in the league. This year the nominees are: Nicklas Lidstrom, Detroit Red Wings; Scott Niedermayer, Anaheim Mighty Ducks; Sergei Zubov, Dallas Stars.

As a side note, Nicklas Lidstrom has been nominated 7 out of the last 8 years and won 3 times (2001 to 2003).

Niedermayer, although I think that Lidstrom deserves it more, Niedermayer has just been all the talk this year, people seem to love him and want him to win it.

Scott Niedermayer is by far one of the best, most overlooked d-men in the game. Maybe this year someone could remember he's out there... ya think

I'd have to go with Neidermayer. He mostly went unnoticed until playoff time. His stride is effortless, his defense is outstanding and he chips in offensively when needed. He earns his Captain "C" every night.
