Is there a way to be notified about new mail in my Yahoo! mailbox?

I'm a mac user, and i'm searching for a notification with pop-up windows.
The problem is that due to firewall problems the program must use only port 80.

USING ONLY PORT 80.

Your solution is to use Yahoo messenger.

Grrr...dang firewalls and they're stupid restrictions. At the junior college where I was attending, the IT guys got scared and stupid and did this whole firewall thing. I can't remember if it was port 80 or not, but there was only one port that we could use and it messed up our instant messaging. I was just one of two Mac users on campus (is it wrong to like a girl just because of her computer?) but there was this group of computer geeks that figured out how to bypass the firewall in instant messengers by changing the connection settings to "Firewall with no Proxies". After word got out that this was possible everybody was online with their instant messengers, except me and the other mac person. The problem with Yahoo Messenger for Mac (besides not being upgraded in years), is that you can't change your connection settings without being LOGGED IN! So, what you have to figure out is how to temporarily log in and change your connection settings from the default (No Proxies) to "Firewall with no Proxies". I did a trial AOL dial up, and connected my computer up for a few minutes using dial up from the dorm, opened Yahoo Messenger and changed the setting, and then called and canceled. You may find another way to get internet temporarily, but that's basicaly what you have to do.

Use yahoo messenger and sign in using your yahoo mail id

Yahoo messenger. When you are logged in to it it gives you a New Mail popup when you get mail.
