China just had a major industrial accident involving a chemical spill into one of the major rivers. But if you want to read about sad water pollution.. read up about the old mining operations in montanna and the current water pollution because of it. look for Clark Fork River and Berkeley superfund cleanup... All countries have some sort of water pollution, be it from biological agents due to pesticides or herbicides or even human or animal waste, or chemical agents from manufacturing or even ground sources of metals.
Sorry to tell horse_honey, who must have pulled her information out of her ***, but US water quality has improved dramatically over what is was 40-50 years ago. The advent of the EPA, as well as stricter regulations regarding what can be discharged into the sanitary districts' treatment facilites (updated late in 2003) has led to an atmosphere where most things simply can't be poured down the drain anymore.
