I have no idea why we call it the World Series, but we do!!
Just like we call the winner of the Super Bowl, World Champs, it's not right...who knows why we call things the things we do!
And, whoa, what's with all the anti-American statements, what did we ever do to any of you guys? Nothing! And I KNOW THERE IS A WORLD BEYOND THE USA.............you people with your anti-American statements are idiots!!

"Dont you have a soccer game to watch?" is the best answer.
And I have to agree with the posts saying that the best players from all over the world play baseball in the US. If you took any team from another country and played the best MLB team, it would be a blood bath. That's just the way it's been set up since the begining.
It would be cool, though, to call the new world baseball tournament (what was it, the world baseball classic or something like that?) from this spring the "World Series" though. It won't happen, though...

Hey spook I guess you are another of these anti Americans with your attitudes. We don't really care for your opinions or your insults. It's called the World Series because many people from everywhere play the game, a game you probably aren't talented enough to play and besides that Canada is also involved in the World Series.

Because the sport doesn't just consist of Americans. Nationalities from around the world play baseball, and have leagues in their own countries. Not to say every great player in the world competes on the American stage, but I would guess (because we pay the most) they have the opportunity to do so if they wish to overcome the cultural barriers. Baseball scouts will go ANYWHERE to find talent.

Major League Baseball is the most ethnically diverse sport played in the world. Therefore, it is a world series.

1. Most of the Western Hemisphere and several Asian nations play the game. It's not out fault that Europe is behind the times.
2. It doesn't really matter what I say here, since you refer to it as a "silly game," I can tell your mind is pretty well closed.

Now more thatn ever I think it's appropriate to call it the world series because there are so many players that aren't american playing in the MLB. who ever said americans are the best at baseball let me name the two best players in the national league Nomar Garciaparra (Mexican) and Albert Pujols (Dominican)
