We're having a BBQ and lots of family and friends over for fireworks and celebration. If my husband and I are providing all the food, and soda, and fireworks etc. Would it be improper to ask our guests to bring their own alcohol?

Absolutely. It can be extremely expensive to provide alcohol to that many quests. If you are providing everything else, there is nothing wrong with asking guests to being their own alcohol or BYOB (Bring Your Own Beer/Booze). It's very common for party hosts to request that their guests bring their own alcohol because alcohol can get very costly - especially on top of food and entertainment.

We're doing the same type of thing. We are providing the food and non-alcoholic drinks since we don't drink. Everyone was told to bring whatever alcohol they want and also their own fireworks.

NO, it is not poor edicate. BUT Alcohol and FIREWORKS DO NOT MIX the two. Someone can be hurt very seriously if not killed. And Don't say Oh no, not me. It can happen. And once it is done, it'll be too late. Be careful, very careful.

It's poor spelling - the word is etiquette.

You can ask them to bring whatever you want, it's your party, and you can provide as much or as little as you feel like.

You can buy some. Not a lot and if that runs out, let them buy their own. You are already providing everything else.

Hell no. If they had any etiquette....when you or your husband invited them, a proper response from them would've been...."sure, do you need me to bring anything"?
