If they were then why wouldn't they just admit it? Why would one of them get married, and the other one date girls? If they were closet-cases they would have been way too uncomfortable doing this movie. If they had boyfriends it would be in the media. The papparazzi stalks them. There are new pictures of Jake EVERY day. They'd both still be rich and good-looking if they came out so, they'd have nothing to fear. One might argue that they wouldn't get as many movie roles, but I think their popularity would stay up if they came out, and they'd still get movie roles. Furthermore, this is not Heath's first gay role...Heath and Jake both have gay people in their families and very open-minded families. I think Jake would have come out as a teen before he became famous to his family and would have dated because his family is so open-minded. Whomever he would have dated would have sold their story to someone by now if this were the case.

I'm guessing not. Heath Ledger had a baby girl with Michelle Williams and Jake Gyllenhaal was dating Kristen Dunst for a long time, not sure if he's seeing anybody now.
