My favorites by the Police are Tea in the Sahara , Murder By Numbers (both rather obscure, but gorgeous anyway), and Don't Stand So Close to Me. The Police really did sing about some seriously dark subjects, didn't they? All to a mysterious, elegant, rather sexy beat, huh? But, I suppose they were one of the few truthful bands out there, especially at the time, talking about society as it was, and calling it on much of its bs.

As far as Sting solo, my favorites will always be Love is the Seventh Wave (so uplifting), Russians (so true, so powerful), and Something the Boy Said (so very haunting and beautiful).

But really, if I walked into a room, and any album of either The Police or Sting was playing, I'd take a seat, grab some tea, and be a seriously happy camper, because most of their/his work was/is phenomenal.

Oh goodness I love Sting and The Police. My personal favorite will probably always be Fields of Gold. Besides that, Everthing She Does is Magic, Shape of My Heart, Brand New Day, and Englishman in New York are some other favorites.

I like old Police songs. Not a big Sting fan. He's very talented, just not my kind of music.

With that said, my favorite Police song is "Spirits in the Material World". It's eerie, dischordant, and has that hypnotic resonating sound going on. It really has an unusual mood to it.

I LOVE STING AND THE POLICE !!!! It's hard to narrow their songs down to favorites... but I guess I'd choose King of Pain and Wrapped Around Your Finger for The Police and as for Sting I'd say Fragile and Fortress around your Heart-reasons I'd pick these-I don't know but I never get sick of hearing them and I can never hear them loud enough.

I have to pick only one favorite? Okay.

From the Police - Murder by Numbers. I like this part especailly...
"Now you can join the ranks of the illustrious
In history's great dark hall of fame
All our greatest killers were industrious
At least the ones that we all know by name"

From Sting - Shape of Your Heart
"I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier
I know that the clubs are weapons of war
I know that diamonds mean money for this art
But that's not the shape of my heart"

"Every Little Thing She Does is Magic" by The Police (I absolutely adore The Police. I don't care much for solo Sting, though)

"Every breath you take". It's the first Police song that I can remember ever hearing. I don't have a favourite Sting song.

I don't know why, but this one always brings a big mysterious smile to my face. The tables get turned by the end of the song.. like an unraveling...

Wrapped Around Your Finger

You consider me the young apprentice
Caught between the Scylla and Charybdis
Hypnotized by you if I should linger
Staring at the ring around your finger

I have only come here seeking knowledge
Things they wouldn't teach me of in college
I can see the destiny you sold
Turned into a shining band of gold

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Mephistopheles is not your name
But I know what you're up to just the same
I will listen hard to your tuition
And you will see it come to its fruition

I'll be wrapped around your finger
I'll be wrapped around your finger

Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me
I will turn your face to alabaster
Then you will find your servant is your master

And you'll be wrapped around my finger
You'll be wrapped around my finger
You'll be wrapped around my finger

Don't Stand So Close to Me
You have to love a song about temptation.

Young teacher, the subject
Of schoolgirl fantasy
She wants him so badly
Knows what she wants to be
Inside her theres longing
This girls an open page
Book marking - shes so close now
This girl is half his age

Dont stand, dont stand so
Dont stand so close to me

Her friends are so jealous
You know how bad girls get
Sometimes its not so easy
To be the teachers pet
Temptation, frustration
So bad it makes him cry
Wet bus stop, shes waiting
His car is warm and dry

Dont stand, dont stand so
Dont stand so close to me

Loose talk in the classroom
To hurt they try and try
Strong words in the staffroom
The accusations fly
Its no use, he sees her
He starts to shake and cough
Just like the old man in
That book by nabakov

Dont stand, dont stand so
Dont stand so close to me

Dont stand, dont stand so
Dont stand so close to me
