All these "reality shows" but people might not really want those fifteen minutes (or more unfortunately for flavo flav) So why would you not want to be famous.

You live your life in a fish bowl with everyone watching your every move and paparazzi make a lot of money hunting and tracking celebrities. That lack of privacy can deteriorate your sense of peace and safety in day to day life. Princess Diana's death was an example of this and the world should learn to back off and let these people live a normal life.

Fame is one of those things which means absolutely nothing. People who become famous because of their achievements is one thing, but the modern realty culture where everyone feels they deserves their fifteen minutes if absurd.
The prime example in the UK is Victoria Beckham, although originally more famous than David, she is now very much in his shadow and little more than a clothes horse in the public eye. I don't like the way the press demonise certain people, but the problem is that the public have very little time for people that are famous without any discernable talent.
I will never understand people who covet fame for fame's sake; that sort of mentality always reminds me of serial killers. People of such low self esteem that any recognition is better than obscurity

being famous entails a host of other things which have not been listed in the job desciption of a celeb. behind the foto sessions and sreaming fans and generous paychecks lies an undisclosed world. one where in you have no privacy, people have the "right" to mess with your sentiments, your head, your belongings and you cant do much about it as you owe it to them seeing as how they are your fan following. i think the very idea of fame is fickle and short-lived. all the rockstars and movie stars from the past and present have been involved in some sort of shady business or another. drugs, physical abuse, drunken driving and smuggling etc. the list of their dirty deeds could go no but we as people of the society should realize that we are the ones solely responsible for this entire mess. a budding start gets all the attention imaginable and then suddenly one fine day is dropped from the public eye.....as a new start emerges some where else. how would any one feel...if one moment they had a life worthy of jealousy from millions and the next thing you're being called the "STAR...................WHO WAS...."?? fame doesnt mean much to me. respect. honour. dignity.equality. honesty are some of the greater priciples to focus on.btw.....good question!....it made me think :D

In the words of David Bowie and John Lennon...

Fame, makes a man take things over
Fame, lets him loose, hard to swallow
Fame, puts you there, where things are hollow
Fame

Fame, it's not your brain, it's just the flame
that burns the change to keep you insane
Fame

Hmmmm...that doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun.

I would not want to be famous because when you are famous, all of Planet Earth knows everything that you do from who you date and marry to how many kids you have to where to travel on vacation. People of the World do not need to know everything about me, my family, and especially my children.

I would rather earn one person's genuine respect than recieve the attentions of a million fawning pretenders.

These days it seems that we don't really love our heros, its just overcompensation for disliking our own lot in life.

Look at how quickly people fall out of favor, like disposable diapers.

I would not want to be famous as each day I would have to fear for the safety of my children. Their wellbeing is worth more to me than fame and all the money in the world.
