Who are some that the English media are obsessed with? besides the beckhams, the queen and princes Charles, harry, and william? Just mainly English actors that are also popular in the US (i.e. Beckinsale, the Harry Potter kids, etc.)?

The biggest celebrities in Britain at the moment are the Footballers and Big Brother housemates! We seem to have lost track of proper celebrities! The media are so fickle in Britain. As a brit I would say we love the under dog here but we hate the top dog. So If your a top dog the media rips you to bits. So most celebs have learnt not to draw attention to themselves. So our press try to rip your celebs to bits instead, like Tom & Katie and Brad & Angelina.
It used to be the likes of Emma Thompson, Colin firth, Ewan Mcgregor, Hugh Grant and Kate Winslet but they are very rarely seen now.

Humm email me and i will take through who's who in the UK. Oh the Queen is Royalty not Celebrity. Not just Actors are celebs, Artists, Musicians, Play Writes, the list goes on. If you want to know about the British just ask and we will answer. Be kind though, a chap was giving us a hard time earlier, rather rude with no cause too. It's not our fault we were born here. I like being English and love to share my country.

Current stories would include Jude Law & Sienna Miller's on & off relationship, Kate Moss's drugs involvement, Robbie Williams possibly being gay, the extramarital activities of our politicians, Elton John's latest tantrum. And, although she's american, we also see a lot of stuff about Madonna (esp. on whether or not she's had/needs to have cosmetic surgery) since she's based over here in the UK.

Reality TV stars are always looking for their 15 mins of fame and although most class them as non-celebrity they are getting a lot of media and column space. Football stars and their partners/girlfriends/wives also get a lot of unnecessary media coverage even though the partners are only famous because of who they are dating - the world's gone mad! Then theres the famous for bonking someone famous braaagggade - none of them are real celebrities they are just famous or infamous for doing something everyone does - have sex - some of us have more dignity and would rather be famous for something worthwhile other than having a famous bed partner.

I think although the British are obsessed with celebs, more than I think is healthy - it's not as much as in the USA.
It's TV actors (like Billie Piper and people); film actors (pouty girl, Kate Winslet, Judi Dench etc); sportsmen and women; singers as in the USA, just our people.
