Could be anything from a reprimand to a promotion, to dismissal from the job.

Generally speaking, it means she has a concern she wishes to speak to you about. It probably has something to do with your job performance - what you're doing, not doing, have done, etc.

Look at your boss's "we need to talk" conversation as an opportunity to listen and learn. If you need to clear the air about n aspect of your work, this is a time to do just that - just remember to be respectful and professional. This could also be a good time to set new goals, reassure your boss that you're the right person for the job, and that you are there to make her job easier.

Could be she just wants to talk about American Idol, high gas prices, or the new shoes she just bought!

It depends. If spicy jazz music starts playing, it means she's going to make out with you. If HR paperwork is on the desk, it means you're being fired. If she has a ray-gun and a blank expression, it means she's been taken over by alien intelligence. If all three happen, you're being fired by an alien sex-fiend, and you should enjoy the experience and then sue the company for sexual harrassment when you're fired.

Could be for just about anything, but usually means they are not pleased with your work, and they have had cutbacks. They are sorry but we need to let you go. Here's your severence pay. We really are sorry about this. Know something, they don't give a sh-----t and someone else did some tall talking to keep your job.
Tell them thank you for the stepping stone, and leave. You are on your way to bigger and better things.

Well you won't know until you talk to her, but if you already have a sneaking suspicion you have done something wrong, than you may have to answer for it. Be prepared to face the music. On the other hand, it could be good news or simply a new project that your boss wants you to do! Good luck.

It means that you are probably going to be fired, have your position eliminated, or be laid off. Unless you have done something wonderful lately and are getting a promotion. But it doesnt sound like you are expecting that. Might want to make sure your resume is all ready to go. It could also be a reprimand or warning to perform better. Generally when they are that vague though, its soemthing bad.

Maybe she's going to give you a huge raise!!!

OR NOT!!!

When I did that to my employees it was over a concern or their attendance. I would generally prefer to do this so they weren't suprised if they had any 'write up's which were mandated by company policy. Also, I investigated any complaints and got both sides of the story before I made a determination and counseling.
Hopefully you are gettin' the raise !!!

For my boss it means either i'm getting my review or she wants to know where I'm going for lunch

If you haven't done anything wrong then you should have nothing to worry about.
