My computer crashed, so with the help of friend, I removed everything. Now I am trying to install security/protection software but I am overwhelmed with pop-ups and slow downloads I can not complete any downloads? What should I do? How can I get around these pop-ups long enough to finish what I need to do? Is it possible that a virus is still affecting my computer?

you need to completely wipe the hard drive and reinstall Microsoft (i'm assuming thats what you have) after installing windows. install McAfee or Norton (although I found McAfee to be a lot better protection) I would also install a pop up blocker (I use Ad ware and Spybot, they work really well) then continue installing windows updates then everything else onto your computer.
don't plug into the net unless you have to, until after you've installed McAfee.

It seems some Spyware or Adware is in your System...

Run all the Anti-Virus softwares what and all you have..

Because not all the Softwares are capable to Find all the Virus..

Use Norton, AVG (you can download it for free in internet )
and McCafee if you wish...

But Dont Run all in the same time.. once scanned the system with one Sw.. then Uninstall it before you install another...
Bcoz if run more than one sOftware at the same, it will slow down your system...

Delete the Virus files Manually when software fails to Delete it...

If you still find difficulties in getting rid of those Virus, u better Format the full system...

McAfee and Norton are two different anti-virus software companies. First thing you need to do is install all the proper drivers and download AntiVir from the website below. Then go to download.com and get spybot search and destroy lavasoft ad-ware, and a- squared from download. That should take care of your problems. The links below are direct links to what you should download

McAfee is pretty good . Yahoo has a virus going around and my computer spotted it before it could do any harm. Also limewire has viruses in people files so beware. Anything you download has a possiblility of spyware, adware and viruses so make sure you are constantly scanning your computer.

Obviously you still have issues. Download Avast anti virus, spybot search and destroy, and lavasoft's adaware. They should get rid of the majority of problems.
