What are you waiting for? Get off the computer and get calf to the vet.

It could be from a rattler, but I would think the calf might already be dead by now if that was the case. I would more likely think that the calf has an infection in its front hoof and needs to be given an antibiotic. Call a vet. Many livestock vets will come out to your home so you may not have to even take it to the vet's office.

Grew up on a farm where we raised cattle and pigs.

get him to the vet PRONTO as in now ur calf could be dying!
when the venom goes into the blood stream it makes it's way all the way to the brain and the heart thus KILLING ur animal

Take him to the vet or find where it hurts the most and take the pressure off.
