To subtract decimals you should first subtract the numbers on the right side of the decimals , they're subtracted just as the integer numbers ex. :

1000.25
0099.46
----------
0900.79

1)5-6->borrow 1 from 2 -> 15-6=9
2)1-4->borrow 1 from 0-> 11-4=7... 1000 became 999 after the borrow
3)999-99=900.. then the final answer is 900.79

1. Line up the decimal points when writing the numbers
2. Add zeros after the decimal point to make the same place values.
3 Subtract Normally

Ex. 15.5- 3.75=
15.5
-3.74

Then add a zero above the four to have the same place values

15.50
-3.74
Now subtract and you get: 11.76.

same way as normal numbers. The decimal doesn't move it just stays there so ignore it and put it back in the same place at the end.

.7
- .25
= .45

.95
- .21
= .74
