Few Men are worth a Woman's tears......and the ones who are, won't make them cry....
I wish I could give a better answer than that, because I really don't know. Some people are mean and do it just for that reason, thinking that it empowers them over another person. Others have so much of themselves invested in another person that even when something happens unintentionally, it can still cut like a knife.

Greetings from the Yahoo Brain in New York City!
Hope you're watching the live Answers webcast at http://advision.webevents.yahoo.com/asktheplanet/brain.html !
I find that many men make women cry because they simply cannot understand how women process information and emotions differently than they do. And in treating women as they would treat another man, an inherent insensitivity sometimes comes to the fore. This is not the case for all men, of course, but certainly enough to form a general opinion.
As for why women make men cry, I can't testify to that. I've never been made to cry by a woman. I only cry at long distance commercials, greeting cards, and the movie Old Yeller.
Hope this helps!

As a man, I hate to see women cry. If it is a man I dislike, it depends what he was crying about, then maybe I wouldn't feel so bad but I wouldn't like it. Last time I made someone cry I pushed my brother down the stairs 4 years ago accidentally. Any recent event I can't recall. The last time I cried because of a woman 2 months ago when my girlfriend dumped me. Crying is a strange and powerful thing.

Strange as this may sound, but I believe it is a "perverse" way to show or re-affirm to yourself and the other that you have some profound effect or control over the other's life. It tends to give you a feeling of empowerment and relevance. Let's face it, if you didn't cry or feel sadness because of what a "significant" other said or did, then that "significant" other really doesn't matter.

it's mutual. both feelings get hurt some more than others but men upset woman just as much as woman upset men it's a part of life that's like asking why do children make parents cry and why do parents make children cry thers a million differnt ways to look at it but everybody has emotional spots to them that makes them upset and cry

I guess it's because we care about each other. If someone said something to you that was really mean but you don't care what THAT person thinks, you are probably not going to cry. If it is the person you care about, then it will make you cry.

no one makes anyone do anything. people cry because of their own perception of what's going on. Someone could call 5 people stupid idiots. 3 of them could laugh it off and 2 could cry so it has nothing to do with the person calling them idiots, it has to do with the 5 people interpreting it. You decide how to interpret things and if you feel that someone isn't sensitive enough for you, find someone who is.

That remains a mystery in my opinion, but a good cry every now-n-then sooths the emotions that people often bottle up, so to speak.
