Not that I have heard of. Mine you, I can only speak for the south of Scotland the Doric or Gaelic communities in the north use a lot of words that would not occur in Ayrshire.

Think your friend is pulling your leg, I'm Scottish and never heard of it. It's not gaelic for skirt either.
