I see three components here.

The first is your crimped cash flow. This is due to 1) not working. 2) Buying a house. 3) The recent divorce. A house is a heck of an investment, a real pool of wealth, and it doesn't give back immediately other than through the satisfaction that you're not paying rent.

The second is your divorce. Divorces are even more expensive than most medical treatments. You'll feel better about yourself when you come to accept that you'll need a lot of time to recover from this financially, and it also sounds like you need some time to recover emotionally.

The third is the loss of your daughter to her mother. This is heart-rending, truly. The best thing you can do is try to keep a strong relationship with her and keep civil with the mother.

Just take it one day at a time. I moved to my current city with one week's expenditures in my pocket, a few bags of clothes and a bed. I've lived thriftily, worked hard, saved even harder, and played a bit when I could, and so today I'm feeling alright. Not perfect, but the happiness that comes from a simple life.

I can tell by your typing that english is not your first language but you have apparently overcome at least one obstacle and thats coming to a new country and learning a new language enough to work. Congratulations. I would suggest you sit down and figure out your strengths and maybe go back to school and study in an area you enjoy and get a better job. If you have your own home you can always access the equity you have in your home and invest it as a wealth building scheme as the interest is tax deductible, but be careful that if you are just making your payments that you dont get in too deep. Good luck.
