I'm 24 and active. I've tried swimming, but my neck and shoulder are always tensed up. Massage doesn't really help and the only painkillers that do anything are Syndol which contain codeine, caffeine and a muscle relaxant. People always offer me migraine cures but I know that its the neck pain that causing the migraines and thats what needs treating. help!

I work at a chiropractic clinic, it sounds like a lot of what we treat most days. You could have a trapped nerve in your neck or back, it could also be a repetitive strain injury from swimming or work. Try calling your local chiropractic clinic see if they can help. Alot of clinics do offer free assessments so it shouldnt cost you a penny to have it checked out. Good Luck

I don't know what it's called when an air conditioner damages soemthing, but this sounds like it might be carpal tunnel. Has your doctor checked you for that? Either way, get a new doc! There is no reason whatsoever that you should be in pain at all, let alone off and on for 6 months. In the meantime though, maybe try a damp towel on your shoulder, then put a heating pad on top of the towel. I know that sometimes wet heat helps a lot. Hope I helped, and I hope you feel better really soon!

What people forget is that the pain doesn't go away. It's there all the time, and it slowly drains you inside. I dislocated my back over twenty years ago, and (this is a true story, by the way) on my very first visit to the chiropractor, he cleared it OUT. It has never come back since. Now, I am not a doctor. I am just a guy who had a very sore back there for awhile. What I can do is advocate for chiropractic care. With one visit, you will get a "gut feeling" as to whether this is for you or not. Something inside your body is being impinged upon, and chirporactic can clear that pressure on the nerve OUT. When you remove what's in the way, your body immediately goes about healing itself. All I am asking you is very simple: after you have read all the responses you get from this question, please just seriously consider going for a single visit. As I see it, your other alternatives are either different kinds of pills in different amounts, or possibly surgery, neither of which appeals to me. You are probably fairly smart. Think about the whole thing and then do what you feel is the best possible course of action. I will be holding good thoughts about this with you and by the time autumn rolls around, I hope you are walking around with your head held high and your pain completely gone. Sent with much care from G. in South Portland, Maine.

It sounds like it's a possibility you have a pinched nerve or two,I'm a L.P.N but I would still advise you to go to the doctor's they have a machine out called an E-stem and you put the pads on the area where you hurt and cut the machine on it has different levels according to your pain. The patient's say it works really good.Especially at night time because that's when pain is elevated the must due to the temp dropping.Hope I helped you take care.

I suffered from the same thing. The DG advised exercize and painkillers but in the end I went to a private Chiropractor who advised it was due to stress. He sorted it all out within 4 visits - what a relief!!

Do yourself a favour love and stop swallowing the Syndol - they are only a temporary help - go see a Chiropractor.

Good Luck x

I have a similar problem--I have scoliosis too. When it becomes unbearable, I go to the chiropractor. A friend of mine had vertebrae fused together and was just injected with Botox to see if it gets rid of his migraines. Perhaps that is something you can discuss with your family doc. Wish you well!

Going to your GP might be one course of action, another might be to see a physiotherapist. Have you ever been involved in an accident, or injured yourself in that area? Most likely explanation is that you've damaged it in some way, and the headache is referred pain caused by nerve damage.

Go to a chiropractor and get your neck corrected. The headaches will not go away until you do.

might sound obvious but have you gone to your doc with this? Everything I would have suggested youve already tried so maybe you need to get professional advice? good luck. Bx

i think that you need to get yourself to the doctor instead of asking people on a website who don't know the full extent of the problem and who cant see you.
