I was about to say........I know that Monitor and Einstein can take it!! I've seen more fun poked at those two.......and they handle it with grace and hilarious charm.

Now.....a few others? Uhm.....not so much. I agree with Tyrus. You have be secure with yourself. If you are......you can handle anything!

The jokes have to be funny first. Some jokes have had me rolling, but I am personally too alienated from my own culture to even care or expect that the joke was aimed towards me when it was so far off from the truth. Accurate jokes... There was this one joke about short men having a Napolean complex... but then I realized that I wasn't that short or that ambitious... So if the joke never hits you, how can you get hurt? When it's about other men and I know that it hits on truth, how can I laugh at them so much? They make me look bad through the over-generalizations of others... Then there are jokes like that that seem to be horses beaten past the point of decomposition... Humor that gets me has to surprise me at least a tiny bit.

On the other hand, you ask some really good philosophical questions that might have been intended as jokes, but actually get me thinking about how I see reality.

Actually, the best joke that still gets me is something that wasn't even a joke. It was an exercise in Qualitative Research Methods class where we played cards in various tables and then winners and losers moved tables and then had to play a whole different set of rules without knowing it. The game was supposed to introduce culture shock, but instead I grabbed the deck to deal and ursurped control of the entire new table without even realizing it, assigning winners and losers according to my "home" set of rules. I was so fast that none at the table even protested! Then the game was over and I realized what I had done! Holy s**t! I AM a freakin' English colonial a**hole!

Men! Feh! Right?

Not many men or women can laugh at themselves. Women have every bit as big an ego as men, it just manifests itself a little differently. I'm oh so tired of women thinking they are better than men and men thinking that they are better than women. We're all humans so lets just get on with the joking and leave the sexism out of it.

I've been laughing at myself for over 35 years. Poke fun at me all you want. Just don't poke me with a stick, that hurts.

I laugh all the time and don't care what the joke is about as long as it is funny. That's the basis of humor, to stretch the bounds of what makes one laugh and to be able to laugh at oneself. Its great therapy!

Because there is too much truth in the joke. Women are the same way, when there is too much truth in the 'fat wife' joke, it's not funny anymore is it?
