Dress her lightly in light clothing. Make sure she is not outside too long of periods at a time. Make sure she is getting plenty to drink and she can even have a little bit of water. Keep her in the shade. Take a damp cloth (not cold) and rub it on her from time to time. Have her wear a bonnet.

Let her wear natural fibres such as pure cotton and linen, stay away from all synthetic materials. You could try lying her on a towel or a disposable changing mat such as Pampers Care Mats stripped down with nappy off.

Keep her out of direct sunlight, in a well ventilated room. Invest in a fan if you need to.

Offer her lots of cooled boiled water in addition to milk feeds.

when outside, ensure she's in the shade or under a parasol and make sure she wears a light sun hat that will protect her eyes from the sun and of course, ensure that she wears sunscreen even in the shade where sunburn can still occur.

A nice cool bath or a cool sponge wash will also help her feel relieved against the heat.

I have a 3 month old as well. I have just been putting him in a vest and giving him drinks of cool (boiled first) water if he seems to be getting hot and grouchy.

When I take him out I keep him out of direct sun with a sun canopy over his pram and sun hat.

In the evening I bathe him in water that is a little cooler than I would normally use to cool him down a bit. Try sponging him down with cool water between baths if he is getting really hot.

Keep room temperature cooler with a fan also.

Dress her in light and light-colored clothing - dress is preferable to allow cool air to get up under the skirt. If she's going to be in the sun, a hat with a big brim; if she's not, skip the hat (babies release most of their body heat through their heads.) Nothing on her feet. If you can find or manufacture a light breeze, that's ideal. Shade whenever possible if outdoors. I wouldn't put water on her to cool her as it could dry out her skin, but a light spritz now and then may help. Good luck - isn't summer fun.

My baby is 4 months. She has a pink ball cap to keep the sun off her face and I got a battery operated fan at Wal-Mart for a dollar. I tied it to her seat with ribbon and it blows on her. She loves it. I also try to dress her lightly. Another way is to take a freezer pack and put it in a plastic baggie with a bottle of water. Give her some every 15 or 20 mins.

At this age babies cannot sweat and thereby use part of nature's way of cooling off. Do as others have said and occasionally rub your wet hands from cold water over the child's body. Excessive high temperature may cause consulvions especially if the child is teething and/or has a cold.

babies cant regulate their body temperature the same way that way we do. so you need to make sure that the baby wears cool clothing, but ideally if its very hot you need to take the baby away from the heat. take indoors to a cooler area use fans. or if outside hand held fans are a good way to keep a baby cool.
