I have child-like dreams during Christmas. Huge tree, cozy socks, warm family/friends/people.

Besides grandma's house, what city/state gives this warm welcome?

It's tough - because the kind of Christmas of which you speak is the kind that is built through the family relationships. It is next to impossible to get that without the family (the tree, the tradition, the smells of cooking, etc.) Those who have said NYC are dead on, actually, for scenes of the holiday season. It is a beautiful place for Christmas - also Ontario and Vancouver, British Columbia. I was in Venice for Christmas once and it was WONDERFUL. They say Cancun celebrates for over a week leading up to Christmas and that it's great. Bottom line, though, is that you will do better getting your own tree, decorating your own home to the hilt, and cooking up a storm (or ordering cooking up a storm) in for all the friends you have that don't have family around.

New York City where you can do a horse and buggy ride thru Central Park.

Or even in Eurkea Springs, Arkansas.. My husband and I went there for our honeymoon a week before Christmas and it was great. :D
